1. Who we are, and who sells your ticket
TicketWorld.ca is run by [Legal business name], [Address], Ontario, Canada (“we”, “us”). We run a website where event organisers list their events and sell tickets to them.
The organiser of each event is the seller of its tickets. The organiser decides the ticket prices and seating, puts the event on, and is responsible for it. We provide the website, take payment on the organiser's behalf through Stripe, send your tickets, and check them at the door. Unless an event page says otherwise, we are not the organiser.
By buying a ticket or using the site you agree to these terms, our Refund policy and our Privacy policy.
2. Who can buy
You must be old enough to make a contract where you live (18 in Ontario), or buy with a parent's or guardian's permission. Some events have an age limit, shown on the event page; you may need photo ID at the door.
3. Prices and fees
Every price we show is the full price of a ticket, with all fees and any HST included. Nothing is added at checkout. Each ticket's price is made up of:
- Face value: the ticket price the organiser set.
- Service fee: 8% of face value, at least $3 per ticket. This is what TicketWorld.ca charges for its service.
- Facility fee: $2.50 per ticket, paid to the organiser or venue.
- HST: 13% Ontario Harmonized Sales Tax, charged only by a seller registered for GST/HST. A registered organiser charges it on the face value and facility fee; an organiser who isn't registered (a small supplier) can't, so their tickets carry none. TicketWorld.ca isn't registered for GST/HST, so there is no HST on our service fee. Prices say “incl. fees & HST” when there is HST in them, and checkout and your receipt show each HST line with the registration number it's charged under.
For example, a $50 ticket costs $50 + $4.00 service fee + $2.50 facility fee = $56.50 before HST. From an organiser registered for HST it costs $63.33; from one who isn't, $56.50. Checkout shows this breakdown before you pay. Card processing costs are paid by the organiser, not added to your price. Prices are in Canadian dollars.
4. Buying tickets
- You can buy up to 8 tickets in one order.
- When you pick seats we hold them for you for 10 minutes while you check out (a little longer once you are on Stripe's payment page). If time runs out, the seats are released and other people can buy them.
- Your order is complete once your payment is confirmed. We then show your tickets and email them to you.
- If a payment comes through after your seats were released and sold to someone else, we refund it in full automatically and you get no tickets for that order.
- You must not use bots, scripts or other automated tools to hold seats or buy tickets, or try to get around the order limit.
5. Payment
Payments are made by card through Stripe. You enter your card on Stripe's secure payment page; we never see or store your full card number. We keep the card brand and last four digits to show on your receipt.
For events set up by an organiser on TicketWorld.ca, your payment is charged directly to the organiser's own Stripe account (Stripe Connect), and Stripe passes our service fee to us. Your card statement may show the organiser's name. For events we list ourselves, payment is made to [Legal business name].
6. No account needed
You don't need an account to buy tickets. Each order has a private link with a secret key in it. We show it after payment and email it to you. Anyone with the link can see and use your tickets, so keep it private, as you would the tickets themselves. Lost it? Use “Email me my tickets” on the My Tickets page and we'll email the links to the paid orders made with your email address.
7. Your tickets
- Each ticket has its own QR code. Show it on your phone or print it.
- Each ticket gets one person in, once. The first time it is scanned at the door it is used up; a copy or screenshot scanned later will be turned away.
- A refunded or cancelled ticket no longer works.
- The venue's and organiser's rules (security checks, bag rules, age limits, behaviour) apply at the event, and you can be refused entry or removed for breaking them.
8. Ontario's Ticket Sales Act
Ontario's Ticket Sales Act, 2017 protects people who buy tickets in Ontario. In line with it:
- All-in prices. The price we show you first is the total you pay per ticket, fees and taxes included.
- Capacity and distribution. Every event page shows the event's maximum capacity and how many tickets are on general sale, including any held back or sold in presales, before you buy.
- No resale above what you paid. You may not resell a ticket for more than the total price you originally paid for it (Ticket Sales Act, 2017, as amended by Bill 97, 2026). We may cancel tickets bought or offered for resale in breach of this.
- No transfers or resale on TicketWorld.ca yet. We don't currently offer a way to transfer or resell tickets through the site. If you pass a ticket to someone, remember that only the first scan gets in.
- No bots. Using software to get around limits on ticket purchases is not allowed.
9. Changes and cancellations
The organiser may need to change an event's date, time, venue or line-up. If an event is cancelled, you get a full refund, fees and any HST included. For everything else about refunds, see our Refund policy.
10. Using the site
Don't misuse TicketWorld.ca: no fraud, no fake orders, no attempts to break into accounts, order links or the admin, no scraping or overloading the site, and nothing unlawful. We may cancel orders, refuse service, or block access if you do.
11. Our responsibility
The organiser is responsible for the event itself. We are responsible for running the website and handling your order with reasonable care. As far as the law allows, our total liability to you for an order is limited to the amount you paid for it, and we are not liable for indirect losses such as travel or hotel costs. Nothing in these terms takes away your rights under Ontario's Consumer Protection Act, 2002 or other laws that protect consumers.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The version in force when you placed your order applies to that order. The date at the top shows when they last changed.
13. Law
These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. Disputes go to the courts of Ontario.
